CalMark provides several methods for securing your RV or Trailer cover to prevent possible wind damage.
For all vehicles other than fifth wheel trailers and camper shells, the following method is used:
- Calmark Covers are made in a way that the bottom hem is a few inches below the vehicle sides. A continuous 1/4″ rope is fed through the hem on all four sides. The two ends of the rope are accessible at the door position. Pull both ends of the rope until snug and tie them together. This pulls the cover fabric under the sides of your vehicle, preventing wind from getting inside. There are a few grommets in the hems for additional tie down purposes as necessary.
- Camper Shells and Fifth Wheel Trailers are tied down using grommets spaces approximately 3′ apart in the bottom hems. We suggest using bungee cords hooked into these grommets and then to the frame underneath. If the frame is sealed, the bungee cords will need to be extended to reach the grommets on the other side of the vehicle.
- The black 1″ wide straps located on the outside of all covers are used only for minimizing wind movement and should not be used for tie down purposes. They each go under the vehicle and then buckle together and are cinched snugly (not too tightly).
Do not hesitate to tie a non-abrasive rope completely around the vehicle if you are still experiencing wind movement in some isolated areas.
